About ABC Montessori Our Programs Our Teachers
“Education is not something which the teacher does, but it is a natural process that develops spontaneously in the human being. It is not acquired by listening to words, but by virtue of experiences the child acts on his environment. We must offer the child the help he needs and be at his service so that he does not have to walk alone.” -Maria Montessori

The most important period of life in not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six.” – Maria Montessori

PRIMARY- 2 Year Old Classroom
This class is designed for your two-year olds. It is a wonderful introduction to our school for very young children. Mornings at ABC for your two year old are a rich mix of classroom time, music, art activities, and outdoor play. The children who stay with us after lunch take an afternoon nap. We offer part-time and full-time programs for this age level.

PRIMARY – 3 to 5 Year Old Classroom
We have two Primary Classes for children ages three, four and five. The Primary Class offers a rich learning environment, full of learning materials originally designed by Maria Montessori. These materials meet the child's need to learn through sensorial experiences. Lessons are given to each child as they are ready for them, which allow us to meet each child's individual learning needs.

The Primary Class is intended to be a three year placement for the child. Over these three years, the child grows from a young three year old into a confident five year old, who has received lessons as he or she is ready for them. Our students receive increasingly complex lessons using the Montessori materials over the three year span of the primary class.

KINDERGARTEN
Our Kindergarten curriculum is a full day program from 7am to 6pm. Kindergarten in the primary class is a very dynamic time. The program is such that the entire day is a Montessori experience for your child. The morning is spent in their classroom with children between 4 to 6 years of age. After lunch, the kindergarten children will be taken to the kindergarten classroom to work with their Head teacher in the afternoon. This will present the children with an added work period for the teacher to concentrate on advance work in areas such as mathematics and language for successful transition to the elementary classroom.

Your child’s kindergarten year in a Montessori classroom will allow continued academic growth through use of familiar materials, with a teacher who understands his or her unique learning style. Your child will have received a solid grounding in academic areas through materials that make learning meaningful. Completing the primary cycle also gives your child the opportunity to more fully develop important skills like responsibility, respect, self-direction, self-motivation, focus, and concentration. These skills will help your child to become a life long learner, ready for the next step in his or her education.

The Kindergarten curriculum uses sensorial and kinesthetic materials to introduce concepts in: Geography, Geometry/Shapes, Grace and Courtesy, Letters and Sounds, Music, Natural world, Numerals, Operations, Phonetic Rules for Reading, Practical Life, Spanish, and Writing.
